Product Review: L'Oreal Le Teint True Match Super-Blendable liquid foundation

Hello everyone!
Welcome back to my blog ^^

Back in December, I wanted to try out a new base makeup to keep all my post-acne scars and redness away during the winter. I browsed online from high-end foundations to drugstore products. Since I couldn't go too crazy over any products due to sensitive skin, any best seller foundations were not my options. I had to play 'safe' somehow.

So, at the end, I picked up L'Oreal Le Teint True Match Super-blendable liquid foundation with SPF 17 PA++
This foundation costed me about 400 baht.
You can find this product at most Watson and Boots stores and TOPS Supermarket.

A little about L'Oreal Le Teint True Match Super-Blendable liquid foundation:

Available in 8 skin-true shades specially created for Asian's skin tones.

Finish : Natural
Coverage: Light to medium
Skin-type: All skin-type (oil-free)
Color I picked up: G1 Vanilla Ivory

During my first week trial, I used the foundation alone with my favorite M.A.C foundation brush. I love how lightweight the foundation felt. It also brightened up my face. But it wasn't heavy enough to cover up my scars.
On my second week trial, I decided to mix the foundation with my favorite Lioele BB cream. This cream has a thicker texture. So i was hoping that it would help me to cover up my scars. In the end, the mix of the two looked fine. So i kept up with this combination for another 2 weeks or so.

As you can see, below is me wearing L'Oreal Le Teint True Match foundation and Lioele Beyond the solution BB cream when I was sick >.< But I still look healthy! :)

My face didn't get too oily during the day, except my nose area. So I may have to pat some powder or blot off the excess oil with tissue.

After a few weeks of usage, I started to notice that the foundation was melting off around my nose area and forehead. I started to get disappointed and got very upset when i started to breakout!!!

After a month of trial, my face started to break out like crazy. Especially along my chin area. At first, I wasn't sure what was wrong. There were many factors to cause me from breaking out:

1) Lack of sleep
2) Too much product used on one application
3) Stress
4) Sickness > i caught a bad virus during that time too, so i wasn't really in a good shape
5) Hormones

So I immediately stopped using the product. My face took about a month to recover from the crazy breakouts. I left my face 'foundation-free' for about 1-2 weeks. The less products applied on my face, the better and faster to recover.

All in all, it's definitely an affordable product to try out. I love how light weight it felt and natural my face looked but I'm very disappointed when I broke out. Just like its label says, it's 'super blendable'. It definitely is a very liquid product. One pump can go all over the place before you can apply on your face XD so watch out! :p

Would I recommend it?

To be honest, I would not recommend it. Although, it gives a natural look and the texture is very light. I think I can find a better foundation that is similar to this one. I guess I just haven't found the right one yet.

But from my own experience, for my own use, I would stick with BB creams :P

Below are 2 very recent photos I took. I went back to Lioele Beyond the Solution BB cream and up until now, I'm in love with it!

I hope you enjoyed this review! I will be doing another review for Lioele Beyond the Solution BB cream later.

Stay tuned and Happy Chinese New Year 2013! :)

Love,
Rosie

Dolly Wink Packaging Design Update!

A little Dolly Wink update for those Dolly Wink fans OR Tsubasa Masuwaka fans!

Oh now, I miss seeing her on magazines! I should better buy the newest Popteen magazine soon! :)

If you have checked out my previous posts, Dolly Wink products are now available in Thailand!
You are able to find LOADS of them at Tsuhara shop in Gateway Ekkamai! I loveeeeee that store!! It's HEAVEN to me!! XD

If it's inconvenient for you, I also found some Dolly Wink products at Mary Jane shop (I hope I remembered correctly) in Siam Square. It's near Hard Rock Hotel.

Anyway now I don't have to worry about looking around online and off-line anymore! I just realized how cheap they are compared to over-the-counter brands

Let me compare them right now if you think otherwise, let's do the math here:

M.A.C or Shu Uemura eyelashes cost about 600-700baht for ONE PAIR!

Dolly Wink or any other Japanese eyelashes brand cost about 400+baht for TWO PAIRS!!

If you don't believe me then go ask over-the-counter staffs and prove me wrong by posting a photo on my Facebook page or Twitter (@rosiedolly), thank you :)

Another PROS about Japanese eyelashes is that the band that holds eyelashes is much stronger and light-weight when applying on your lashes. This means that band won't bother your eyes at all as it is very flexible. Also, the band is thin and clear!

A few days ago, I checked out Dolly Wink official website and I noticed that Tsubasa Masuwaka (the producer of Dolly Wink) has newly designed her packaging again!

Allow me to show you the original (first) packaging

Notice from the picture below that as she has expanded her eyelashes line, she has already design a new packaging and up until today, these packaging remain the same. But......!

........Below are the new design:
She switched the original packaging to the new one that was already produced last year.

These are the upper lashes, and there are 3 new upper lashes style

Below is a picture of the newest packaging and one of the newest eyelashes:

As for lower lashes, she hasn't created new ones but the packaging have also switched to the new design.

Not only her eyelashes line's packaging have been changed but she continued to make all of her Dolly Wink products' packaging to have a consistent packaging design look.
If you scroll back up to my own photo taken from last year, her old liquid eyeliner's and pencil eyeliner's packaging used to be pink-black tone and polka dots all over it. But now, she has changed the entire product's design to a more sweet, cute and clean look.

On my WISH LIST

  • Dolly Wink Upper Lashes #2, #10 and #11
  • Dolly Wink Lower Lashes #8 and #14
If you would ask me, which eyelashes I've been enjoying would be combination of upper lashes #9 and lower lashes #5.

Tsubasa Masuwaka has also another successful cosmetics line called Candy Doll. Briefly, Candy Doll focuses more on the face area, i.e liquid foundation, powder foundation, blushes and lip glosses.

Below is a quick snap shot of her Candy Doll products from her official website:

From what I can observe, Tsubasa Masuwaka is a very inspirational and admiral Japanese young model and entrepreneur in the Fashion and Beauty industry. She has proven her abilities and potential in what she loves and she is able to give what all girls and ladies of all age group want to look pretty everyday. She works hard on looking for the right eyelashes style and other eye makeup products to make all girls and ladies look beautiful every day at any occasions. At the same time, her packaging design look continues to improve and attract the consumers. I really look forward to see better and attractive design look from Dolly Wink in the future!

Over the past few years, Dolly Wink has shown a dramatic growth and popularity among the targeted audience in Japan. And just shortly, Dolly Wink has attracted more audience from around the world, especially in Asian countries.

Dolly Wink and Candy Doll are just two Beauty brand that she has personally produced and both are very successful in Japan. Tsubasa Masuwaka has also her own Fashion brands from clothing to stockings.

I believe that this is going to be the end of this post! Please go check out her official websites for more information and don't forget to go LIKE her Facebook pages too!

Skincare Basics: how the Skin works

Good morning everyone!

I’m back with the FIRST SKINCARE BASICS post!

Today is the right time to share with all of my readers what I have learned at a Beauty Skincare workshop last weekend and my first personal Beauty workshop hosted this past Monday.

On this post, I would like to focus on sharing the most essential part of the Beauty workshop:

how the Skin works

Not only Beauty or Skin experts should understand how our skin works but also I believe that everyone should.

Our skin has three layers.

Hypodermis is the deepest layer, closest to our bones. It contains a large layer of fat, blood vessels and nerves than those found in the dermis layer.

Dermis is the thickest middle layer that contains collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are proteins that give skin structure, strength and flexibility. As we get older or exposed to too much Sun, the production of elastin and collagen will reduce. Signs of aging can be loss of firmness or more obvious wrinkles.
In this layer, there are also hair follicles, nerves, blood vessels and sebaceous glands. Sebaceous glands produce sebum. Sebum is an oily substance that travels around the hair shaft to reach the top layer of the skin. This oily substance would cover the epidermis layer and gives a protective barrier against moisture loss. When there is an excess sebum production covering the top layer, it leads to oily skin and acne.
Unfortunately, this protective barrier can be easily removed by various factors: cleansers that can be too abrasive and fragranced, environmental pollution and poor diet. So it must be taken care through external skincare products.

Epidermis is the top layer or surface layer. This layer is very thin compared to the other two layers. But it is the strongest among them.
It gives immediate, visual signs to the condition and health of the skin. Epidermis can also be divided into 2 layers.  But I’m not going to go into too much detail.  You may want to know where the living cells are created. They are born at the lowest layer of the Epidermis that is nearest to the Dermis layer. But by the time the cells reach to the surface layer, they are already considered dead. The cells become smaller and flatter as they lack of oxygen and moisture loss. They are left on the surface layer called Stratum Comeum and younger cells pushed up from below replace dead cells.

In the diagram below:

There are blood vessels in the hypodermis and dermis layer.

Blood vessels have a vital role for our skin. They provide nutrition and oxygen to our skin cells.
During our young age, the cells in Dermis and Epidermis layers are very close to each other. This help providing the nutrition and oxygen. But as we get older, the cells are more scattered and inactive. They are unable to provide what it is needed to extend elasticity and collagen. Thus, this leads to aging like fine lines and wrinkles.

!FUN FACTS!
Did you know that the thickness of our 3 skin layers is equal to 10 A4 pages?
Did you know that the thinnest skin layer of our face is the eye socket?

Before we get through the 5 common skin types listing, try the Self-Analysis first. Then you can have a look of the list to see which one is YOUR skin type :)
